Zero grip in the wet. Bordering on dangerous in wet conditions. Worst tyre I’ve driven on in nearly 40 years.

Tyres perform well in all areas until it gets wet. They were quite poor in damp conditions initially, but when tyres are around half worn I have found them outright deadly on my 2017 Ranger. I would recommend them to parking inspectors, politicians and flat Earther’s.

I had these tyres the year I got my Wildtrak as an ex demo vehicle. Most daily driving are on highways, after experiencing slips on roundabouts and accelerations at the lights with slips and fishtail, these tyres affected confidence in my driving and just got used to the precautions I have to be aware, I even warned my wife on such wet situations. These days I make sure to be mindful in turning on roundabouts with the foot off the accelerator. I had many motorway runs out at the Hume Highway south bound and back with countless experiences on torrential rain and gets me worrying on slips despite of very steady cruise control and abit slightly lowered tyre pressure to ensure good footing and traction….but still concerns me until I get used to it. The thread pattern is amazing and still has heaps of life on it just after its service. They look good though and found it good on soft pack, sand (lower psi of course but won’t do it again as fear of beating out, better of getting more bag of rubber on smaller wheels) for traction.

Hi everyone, I bought these Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 Ats because a mate of mine said they were good. Lets be honest they are fine on the dry tar, but thats where that's where fine ends!.. And hatred begins! Every day I have to negotiate a 10km gravel road in-between our driveway and the tarmac. It goes down into a deep valley filled with tourists visiting the Mapleton waterfall and back up the other side, with many corners and many tourists driving in the middle of the road, walking and even the occasional physcopath jogging either way. Since changing to the Nittos my beloved Sr5 feels very uneasy and most of the time I am downright loosing traction at 50km ph like I am some young rally driving hooligan. It literally feels like when my Bridgestones were nearly on their "illegal" wear mark as I was struggling to find the money to replace them. Can you believe i even went as far to get my diff checked by Toyota as I thought it was not an LSD anymore.. It felt like I was back in the Datsun 120b single spinning it up with a mullet on the back roads of Tahmoor again trying to impress some young blonde of the opposite sex. Turns out my beloved car is fine, these tyres are just rubbish.. On wet tar I cannot even put into words how uneasy they feel. It's literally the hardest thing to not spin the wheels on any tar take-off in wet. Steep hill and traffic lights? Forget about it. You are 100% going to spin wheels out of there to the horror of your disapproving partner or wife. Yes she blames me every time. To their credit the tread has been holding up very well considering I have been sliding everywhere for 15k. Infact they have HEAPS of tread left and are almost brand new. Unfortunately they feel like bald Bridgestones. Infact my Bridgestones when they were nearly illegal gripped better than these in the wet. Around roundabouts it's almost impossible to accelerate. Not to mention any corner. I've got into the habit of just rolling through most corners as it's just so damn Unpredictable.. The other day I was coming down from Palmwoods to Eudlo in the wet. It had just stopped raining and the road was damp. As I went through a gentle corner around 60km ph the back slid out and traction control kicked in. I am very lucky I am used to it and corrected. It could of ended very badly as there was a large drop to the left of me. I was also at around 1500k revs in 4th not exactly pushing it. In conclusion these are really bad tyres, not even sure how they are legal with how abysmal they are in the wet. I will be changing them ASAP. Unfortunately i have to wait as I'm just a small business owner who made the mistake of listening to a friend and not trusting my gut.. So if you see some guy putting around at 50km ph in a white Hilux sr5. Know that it is probably me, fearing for mine and my families lives. Cheers, Josh

Extremely weak sidewalls. I tore holes in mine off-road twice so changed brand.

I swapped the stock 255/55-20 Goodyear Eagles (dead silent on motorways but unsuited for offroad use) and 20" x 8.5" OEM wheels for 285/50-20 Nittos mounted on 20" x 9.5" Redbourne wheels (no lift required and no clearance problems). The Nittos are slightly noisier on paved surfaces but the improvement in stability, handling, and maneuverability that came with the wider tyre footprint and aggressive tread was absolutely apocalyptic. The small increase in road noise was a small price to pay to obtain the offroad prowess that Discovery owners demand, with the added bonus of giving it the ability to corner like it's on a rail.

Without a doubt some of the worst tyres I've ever had on a vehicle. The dry performance is pretty good but as soon as there's any hint of rain, these tyres cannot be trusted. They are incredibly dangerous in the wet - aquaplaning and completely losing traction even at low speeds. Also, they wear really quickly and don't wear evenly, even with rotations at every 5,000km. I would strongly urge anyone to look elsewhere, especially if you value your loved ones. I will never buy these tyres again.

Extremely happy with this purchase, bought a set of 4 three days before a road trip holiday towing a 3t van. Managed the blacktop and soft surface roads with aplomb. Even after a number of air down and reinflates no bead issues. These are the widest tyre allowed by Isuzu on their factory rims and the speedo change has been minimal. Will definitely buy again, done 20,000 km so far and only about 20/25% worn

I got this because my local tire shop I have shopped at for nearly 20 years suggested I give them a go, I wanted a good all round A/T without spending a fortune, and not need an extreme off road tire, so far they are great on wet bitumen, very good in muddy boggy paddocks, I haven’t tried a lot of rocky off-road stuff with them but believe they would be fine, I’ve had Bridgestone dueler 697 on previous and these are much better in the wet, the road noise is reasonable for an A/T, comparable or quieter then the Mickey Thompson Degan 38’s on the wife’s car, we both have the same model triton so it’s a fair comparison in that regards, had them checked and rotated at 10,000km wearing very well, if they continue like this I would definitely get them again, side note they are apparently based on the Toyo open county carcass so base tech should be good

I have towed a 3t caravan 40,000km with these tyres. I have driven Skytrek in the Flinders Ranges, Fraser Island, the Old Strzlecki Track and many gravel roads without incident.

Have been a great evenly wearing tyre that has held its own on beach driving, dirt tracks and mixed urban usage including winding tarmac. Only at the 50-60k mark did I notice some road noise increasing but still very much acceptable for an all-terrain tyre. Should get approximately 80k from this set with regular rotations.
